WELCOME TO Latin America!

Basic facts

  • Population: 659 million
  • Language: Spanish is the most spoken language throughout Latin America, closely followed by Portuguese in Brazil, French in French Guyana and Dutch in Surinam. There are a variety of indigenous languages too.
  • Territories: the Latin America and Caribbean region includes 33 countries.
  • Best time to visit: if you’re visiting South America, take into account that the summer months (November – February) are during the winter time in Europe and viceversa. In case you’re heading to the islands in the Caribbean, try to avoid the hurricane season in August-September.
