📸 Top panoramic viewpoints in Barcelona
Below you will find eleven viewpoints, including my favorite 8 panoramic spots in Barcelona and 3 bonus locations. They are all sorted in alphabetical order.
By the way, if you´re aiming for the best views of Barcelona, remember to check the weather in advance because clear skies can truly make all the difference. With that being said, let´s now dive into it!

🔭 Bunkers del Carmel (Turó de la Rovira), the best sunset views of Barcelona
Once an anti-aircraft battery during the Spanish Civil War, today the Bunkers del Carmel attract tourists and locals for their unobstructed views over the city grid, the Sagrada Família basilica and the Mediterranean. This scenic prospect is located on the Turó de la Rovira, a 262 meter-high hill in Barcelona.
I enjoyed a magical sunset here when I traveled solo in November 2023, but I was surprised to find so many people. It seems that this isn´t a hidden gem anymore!
While you´re up there, you might want to take some time to visit the MUHBA Turó de la Rovira, a space belonging to the city´s historical museum (Museu d´Història de Barcelona).
🚌 How to get to Bunkers del Carmel: take the bus almost to the top of Turó de la Rovira (what I did) or head to metro stops Alfons X or El Carmel. You will then have to walk 10-20 mins. 💰 Cost: free. ⏱️ Best time & opening hours: sunrise for peace, sunset for atmosphere. Note that the bunkers open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM in summer, while they close at 5:30 PM in winter. Keep in mind that police patroling the area are quite strict about the closing time. ⚠️ Local tip: respect the neighborhood by being as silent as possible, particularly in the evening.

🛍 Las Arenas de Barcelona rooftop, easy access view over Montjuïc and Plaça d’Espanya
Once a bullring, Las Arenas de Barcelona is now a shopping center with a circular rooftop terrace offering a sweeping vista of Montjuïc hill, the opulent Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), the Magic Fountain and Plaça d’Espanya.
Las Arenas is a perfect quick stop if you’re already exploring Montjuïc or visiting the MNAC museum nearby.
🚇 How to get to Las Arenas de Barcelona: metro Plaça d’Espanya. 💰 Cost: free rooftop access via escalator. ⏱️ Best time: early evening or after sunset to catch the lights of the Magic Fountain with the elegant MNAC in the background. 💡 Pro tip: you have plenty of leisure and restaurant options within the mall. For example, I had lunch with a local friend at the Italian restaurant La Tagliatella, on the terrace level.

🚡 Montjuïc hill, panoramic views over the port and the Mediterranean
This iconic hill overlooking Barcelona offers everything, from touristic attractions and Olympic facilities to world renowned museums such as Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya or Fundació Joan Miró.
Moreover, you will find endless vantage points to admire the buzzing city, the harbor of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea.
There are various locations on the Montjuic hill for sweeping vistas.
- 🏰 Given its strategic location on top of the hill, visitors can enjoy a 360 view of Barcelona from the historic Montjuïc Castle.
- 🌳 This panoramic area of the city abounds with lush gardens. For the best views of Barcelona, head to Jardines del Mirador -particularly Mirador del Alcalde – or Jardines de Mossèn Costa i Llobera.
- 📸 In my view, the best way to admire Barcelona from Montjuic is by taking the cable car. There are two options: the Telefèric de Montjuïc or Teleférico del Puerto-Aeri. While the first one starts at the Parc Montjuïc stop and goes directly to Montjuïc Castle, the second operator connects the San Sebastián tower in Barceloneta with the Miramar station, located on the Montjuic mountain. Even though the latter is more expensive, I would recommend it since the route is longer and you will have a better panorama of the city. Bonus point if you time your port cable car ride at sunset as I did; it was simply unforgettable and the highlight of my evening!
🚇 How to get to Montjuïc: take the funicular from Paral·lel, bus or cable car from the port of Barcelona. 🧡 My personal favorite: take the Teleférico del Puerto cable car for breathtaking views of the harbor and the city. ⏱️ Best time: golden hour for soft light and fewer crowds.

👀 Monumento a Cristóbal Colón, harbour viewpoint at the end of Las Ramblas
Located at the lower end of the iconic Las Ramblas boulevard, the Columbus Monument (also known as Mirador de Colón) features a small observation deck 60 meters above the ground that can be accessed by elevator. It’s a short stop but offers unique 360º views over the city of Barcelona, Port Vell (the old harbor) and the Mediterranean Sea.
🚇 How to get to the Columbus Monument: metro Drassanes. 💰 Cost: tickets can be purchased for €9. ⏱️ Best time: morning or late afternoon when the light hits the harbor.

🎨 Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) terrace, a classic city panorama
Perched on Montjuïc hill, the imposing Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) houses Catalonia’s most important art collection. Moreover, its terrace offers postcard-perfect views over Plaça d’Espanya and the Magic Fountain. From its grand steps you can admire the symmetry of the avenues leading to this point.
If you only have time for one city-center vantage point, this is one of the most convenient — especially paired with Las Arenas de Barcelona rooftop nearby.
🚇 How to get to MNAC: metro Plaça d’Espanya, then walk up the stairs or use the escalators. 💰 Cost: free access to the steps and museum terrace; purchase the basic ticket for 360º views from the rooftop (€2). Free entrance with the Barcelona Card. ⏱️ Best time: sunset for glowing light and illuminated fountains (particularly if you´re around for the light and music show at the Magic Fountain). 💡 Pro tip: take a coffee break with a view at La Terrassa del MNAC or explore the dining options offered by the museum.

🦎 Park Güell, Gaudí’s masterpiece with city views
Antoni Gaudí’s quirky park is another must-see in the city, as well as the perfect panoramic balcony over Barcelona. Given its strategic location on a steep hill, head to its colorful benches made of mosaic (Banc de Trencadís) to see the Sagrada Família rising above the Eixample grid and the Mediterranean Sea beyond. This is probably one of the most Instagrammable spots in Barcelona!
If you want to admire even more of Antoni Gaudí´s brilliant work, I suggest you visit Casa Batllò and/or Casa Milà-La Pedrera, as both have rooftops with views of Barcelona to die for (plus unique architectural details of course).
🚇 How to get to Park Güell: metro Alfons X, Lesseps or Vallcarca + 15 min uphill walk. 🎟 Park Güell tickets: prices range from €18 to €35, with early booking highly recommended. ⏱️ Best time: early morning to beat the crowds and harsh light. 📸 Photo tip: use the serpentine benches to frame the skyline for a classic Gaudí shot. 💡 Pro tip: in case you want to skip Park Güell and just enjoy a scenic view for free, head to Mirador de Joan Sales, located right above the park.

✝ Sagrada Familia towers, unique aerial view of Barcelona city
In my opinion, visiting the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia ranks, without a doubt, as one of the best things to do in Barcelona. Considered Antoni Gaudí’s most iconic building, this magnificent church has been under construction since 1882.
The Sagrada Família isn’t just Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece — it’s also one of the city’s best observation points. Climbing one of its towers offers close-up views of architectural details and the urban grid below. I went up the Torre de la Pasión when I visited in November 2023, which was spectacular. On your way up you will take an elevator in small groups, before descending on foot via a narrow, partly spiral staircase.
🚇 How to get to Sagrada Familia: metro stop Sagrada Familia. 🎟 Sagrada Familia tickets: access to any of the towers is sold as an add-on, and you can opt for a visit with or without a guided tour (€40 vs €36). ⏱️ Best time: morning or late afternoon; arrive 15 min before entry time and enter via Carrer de la Marina. 👪 Traveling with kids: children under 6 can´t visit the towers and those between 6 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult. 💰 Budget tip: as a cheaper alternative, consider the rooftops at the Barcelona Cathedral, the church devoted to Santa María del Pi or the basilica of Santa María del Mar.

🎡 Tibidabo hill, best skyline view of Barcelona
The Tibidabo mountain, perched on the Collserola ridge, is its highest peak at 512 meters above sea level. Given its altitude, it offers the most complete skyline of Barcelona: picture the entire city stretched between the mountains (even the Pyrenees on a clear day) and the Mediterranean.
The Tibidabo amusement park and the church of the Sacred Heart (Sagrat Cor) add charm and character to your photos. We came to Tibidabo many years ago with my family and absolutely loved it, I should definitely go back soon!
In case you´re into biking or hiking, a more authentic and local alternative for scenic views of Barcelona is Carretera de les Aigües, a 10km popular trail. And last but not least, Torre Bellesguard, also built by the talented Gaudí, is another hidden gem and viewpoint.
🚆 How to get to Tibidabo: the fastest way of reaching it is via the funicular Cuca de Llum. 💰 Cost: accessing the Tibidabo hill is free, whereas you have to pay for the amusement park rides and the Collserola tower viewpoint (now temporarily closed). ⏱️ Best time: sunset for unforgettable views of Barcelona. 👪 Family-friendly: yes — it´s the perfect mix of fun and views. 💡 Pro tip: combine a few rides at the vintage Tibidabo amusement park with a cocktail at Mirabé restaurant nearby for dinner with a view.

🌟 Bonus panoramic spots for the best views of Barcelona
If you´re here for the best views of Barcelona, the abovementioned viewpoints are certainly scenic. That being said, some of them can be very popular and overcrowded, which is why I´m sharing some alternatives off the beaten path:
- ✝ Barcelona Cathedral rooftop and other basilicas: overlooking the city´s Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic), this is a cheaper (and less crowded) alternative to the panorama towers of the Sagrada Família basilica, with tickets starting at €16. If you want to spend even less, other options nearby include the bell tower in the church devoted to Santa María del Pi (buy a general admission ticket for €8) or the basilica of Santa María del Mar (visit without a guide but with access to the rooftop with a €10 ticket).
- 🚁 Helicopter or hot-air balloon rides: in case you´re feeling adventurous, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a unique perspective of this Mediterranean destination and nearby Montserrat. Feel free to explore the abovementioned outdoor activities that Manawa offers in the city, including these Helicopter Tours in Barcelona.
- 🗼 Mirador Torre Glòries (former Torre Agbar): this breathtaking vantage point is part of the modern Barcelona skyline. Purchase your ticket to admire spectacular 360º views at 125 meters high. Don´t miss its colorful light displays at night!

🍽 Panoramic restaurants and rooftop bars in Barcelona
Sometimes the best view comes with some delicious food and a drink in hand. Barcelona’s restaurants and rooftops are perfect for those who want to relax while enjoying the skyline.

🎒 Final thoughts on the best views of Barcelona
Barcelona is a city that never looks the same twice. Every visit offers a new angle — from sunrise at the Bunkers del Carmel to sunset from a rooftop bar. My advice: pick one hill (Montjuïc or Tibidabo) and one central viewpoint (Sagrada Família or Las Arenas) to see the contrast between old and modern Barcelona. And if you can, end your day with a cocktail overlooking the skyline — it’s the best way to fall in love with this fascinating destination all over again.
