Review of Hotel-Museo Patria Chica in Priego de Córdoba
We started this year right by staying at the convenient Hotel-Museo Patria Chica in Priego de Córdoba. We slept three nights here and enjoyed the Christmas traditions in this charming city of southern Spain. To learn more about the hotel location, its concept and facilities, here’s my hotel review of Hotel-Museo Patria Chica.
Location
The Hotel-Museo Patria Chica is conveniently located just three minutes away from the townhall of Priego de Córdoba. If you’re driving, follow these directions.
The city is surrounded by a beautiful natural environment filled with olive trees and there are quite a few activities to do while you’re there. From visiting historic monuments to trying the delicious local olive oil, you can check my travel guide here.

The hotel concept
Hotel-Museo Patria Chica is a four-star property situated in a former noble house, recreating a journey through the history, culture and customs of rural Spain in the early twentieth century.
The owner strived to respect and recover the original architectural and decorative elements of the building.
Our room
The hotel features a limited number of rooms, which are situated on two levels (there is a lift). These are divided into museum rooms (habitación museo) or superior rooms (habitación superior). All of them are double rooms equipped with air conditioning and underfloor heating, smart tv, telephone, free WIFI, hairdryer, magnifying mirror, bathroom with shower (the superior rooms include an integrated bathtub) and high quality products. They also contain original antique furniture and museum objects from the 1915 period. The hotel rooms at Hotel-Museo Patria Chica combine past and present in perfect harmony with the highest comfort. Feel free to take a look at the gallery here.
When we visited, we got one of the superior rooms located upstairs, right next to the stairs.
It was spacious and modern although preserving the old essence.
In addition to the bathroom, it featured an elegant bathtub as well as a living room leading to our beds.
All in all, we really enjoyed our room and took full advantage of it (including a well deserved bath in the bathtub). The only downside was that our room and some others faced one of the patios. Hence, it got noisy with visitors and guests a couple of times and we couldn’t take a proper nap.
Eating at the hotel
Hotel-Museo Patria Chica provides a gastronomic experience for its clients at its restaurant and bar. The hotel offers various environments (dining rooms, patios and garden) so that any moment is unique. The main dining room is an elegant and cozy space full of treasures with original paintings by Lozano Sidro, La Cartuja tableware and a perfectly restored piano, whereas you can enjoy a relaxed drink at the nearby bar. On the other hand, the Andalusian patios and the tranquil garden are the perfect outdoor spots to step back in time and experience a relaxing stay.
The cuisine at the restaurant is inspired by the Mediterranean tradition.
All their dishes are made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the Priego de Córdoba Certificate of Origin. In general, we liked the food at the hotel. We had breakfast here every day (including fresh orange juices and Iberian ham on toast, yummy!). We also enjoyed a group lunch once and celebrated our dinner for New Year’s Eve. Regarding the latter, we expected a bit more out of it: the dishes were tasty but not outstanding and there wasn’t even a party after midnight so we had to go to a nearby bar.
Other hotel amenities
The hotel offers a paying parking service right in front of its facilities. It is also available for special events such as weddings or corporate meetings.
Finally, we got complimentary chips with local olive oil upon checking into our room, which was a welcoming touch.
My review of Hotel-Museo Patria Chica
The moment you set foot at Hotel-Museo Patria Chica you are transported back in time to a noble house of rural Spain in the early twentieth century. Filled with antique furniture, comfortable rooms and quality culinary experiences, we enjoyed our stay here thanks to its friendly staff.
