Before traveling to Bolivia for the first time in order to help my boyfriend settle there, we spent some family quality time in Madrid during Christmas. It’s always nice to visit Spain‘s capital!

Since my boyfriend’s family lives in Majadahonda, which is in the suburbs, we went to one of its many delicious restaurants upon arrival: El Rebote.  There we ate, among other things, artichokes with Serrano ham and foie, plus some aubergine rolls with Roquefort cheese.  Yummy!

If you’re curious about what to do there, you can check out my Majadahonda travel guide.

The next day we spent the whole time in Madrid. Our first stop was the Museo Sorolla.  I was really amazed by this visit.  Joaquín Sorolla was a famous Spanish painter from Valencia and I had no clue he had lived in Madrid for some years. The museum is actually housed in what once was his former house. The building is a beautiful mansion featuring Andalusian patios. While visiting Sorolla’s house, you’ll discover many paintings of his.

After having a good lunch at nearby Casa Benito, we headed to the city center. We strolled around the famous Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace and finished off the day at the La Latina theater seeing Concha Velasco’s play ‘El Funeral’ (quite terrible by the way).
