From Montreux to Interlaken on board of the Goldenpass Railway
This Sunday we boarded on an unforgettable train journey from Montreux to Interlaken on board of the vintage Goldenpass Railway. We enjoyed a panoramic view of lake Léman, the imposing mountains and the charming Swiss villages along the way.
A LUSH TRAIN RIDE
After leaving the Cornavin train station in Geneva, we got to Montreux , where we boarded the elegant and modern Goldenpass Line train heading to Zweisimmen.
After climbing above lake Léman from Montreux and passing through a tunnel, we were amazed by the lush landscape: green hills featuring happy cows, alpine mountains and a succession of picturesque mountain villages with their characteristic chalets full of flowers.
The train continues to Zweisimmen making stops in Rossinière, Château-d’Oex or fashionable Gstaad, already located in the German-speaking area of Switzerland.
Once we got to Zweisimmen, we changed trains and took another one to Spiez and finally Interlaken. On our way back to Geneva from Interlaken, we had to go through Bern. I’m sure you won’t regret this train journey with picture -postcard views!
The long-gone glamour of INTERLAKEN
Located between lake Brienz and lake Thun, Interlaken is one of the oldest, best known, and most popular summer holiday resorts in Switzerland.
However, during our Sunday walk around the city, the glamour seemed long gone. Its hotels and elegant buildings had a bit of a ghost feeling and we even unexpectedly found a Hooters branch. In our case, a stroll around the main street of Höheweg sufficed and I would only mention the following hotels worth admiring: the Royal St Georges, the Beau Rivage as well as the grand Victoria Jungfrau.
If you like traveling by train, the Goldenpass Line is probably one of the rides you can’t miss when traveling throughout Switzerland. I hope you found this information useful and I look forward to reading your comments!

Transportation:
Moving around by train is definitely the best and most panoramic option in Switzerland. You can buy your Goldenpass ticket at any SBB train station or online. Depending on your ticket, you can even get a meal on board but we went for the cheaper option and brought our own food.
