📸 What to see in Frankfurt in a weekend

I took the train from Geneva to the main train station in Frankfurt. My boyfriend picked me up there and we took the metro and then the train to Eschborn Süd. Below is a recap of what we covered in a weekend in Frankfurt. At the end of this post, you will find a map with all the locations mentioned here.

This German city is quite big and here are some of the main attractions you should visit while you’re there:

  • Starting from Hauptbahnhof (the main train station), stroll along the lively Kaiserstraße. There are plenty of restaurants and bars here.
  • Take a selfie with the famous euro sign of the European Central Bank, which has just moved to new premises.
  • Admire the classic opera building (Alte Oper)
  • Cross the Friedensbrücke over the Main river in order to explore the elegant Sachsenhausen neighborhood.
  • In the old town, visit Paulskirche and Römerberg, a historical market square.

🍽️ Where to eat in Frankfurt

  • We had an excellent dinner at a Viet restaurant called Aroydee.
  • For drinks, we had cocktails at the nearby Good Times For Good People.
  • If you feel like experiencing a very typical German restaurant, stop by Adolf Wagner, where we had Schnitzel Frankfurt style with green sauce and potatoes plus some cider (Apfelwein).
  • Check out Kaiserstraße for many restaurants and bars options.
