The C&O Canal is one of the cutest spots in Georgetown

Today was my first time around the historic neighborhood of Georgetown and it won’t be the last, that’s for sure! Since it’s so close to my current apartment in Foggy Bottom in Washington DC, I decided to explore my immediate surroundings.

I started the day with a walk along the Waterfront, a promenade in the Northwest running along the Potomac River. From there, you will have a good perspective at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts (also known as the Kennedy Center), a monumental building dedicated to theater, dance and cultural events alike.

Apparently, Georgetown was an industrial area back in the day as it was located a bit far off from the downtown area. However, nowadays it’s bustling with students from Georgetown University, trendy stores and restaurants, elegant houses and cobblestone streets.

I really enjoyed the vibes in this part of town, and I even found an ice rink by the river and a delicious-looking cupcake store called Georgetown Cupcake. As for the main shopping streets, these are Wisconsin Avenue and M Street.

I think I found MY place to go in Washington DC, and it only took me a couple of days! Stay tuned for more DC discoveries!
