Biking along lake Geneva
I only have a month left in Geneva before I move to Tarija (Bolivia) for good, so I decided to take on one of the things on my bucket list: biking along lake Léman!
The ‘Escalade’ race
Each year, on the first Saturday in December, the most popular sporting event in Geneva takes place in the old town : the Escalade Race. This event is for everyone - famous international runners to beginners, children and adults alike. Some people even dress up! Distances run vary from 2kms to 8 kms depending on the category All the races take place in the narrow streets of the old town and finish in the Bastion Park.
Red Cross Museum, Jonction and Carouge
We finally went to a museum in Geneva! After coming from DC, where most museums are free, it felt weird not to visit a single museum since I moved here.
Staycation in Geneva
We're enjoying summer in Geneva swimming in Lake Leman, watching movies outdoor at Ciné Transat , eating well and just enjoying life. It's a real #staycation!
Winter in St Cergue
St Cergue is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Given its proximity to Geneva (only 40 mins away), I’ve been there a couple of times already, snowshoeing and skiing.
Cologny
Cologny is a municipality in the Canton of Geneva, just in front of my office across Lake Leman. It houses the World Economic Forum and plenty of houses belonging to millionaires. You can reach Cologny by foot (although it is uphill and very steep) or by bus.
A busy weekend with friends: UN Open Day, Chillon castle, Lausanne & Geneva
A couple of Spanish friends came to Geneva to pay me a visit and we spent a very busy weekend full of activities around the city. In addition to strolling around Geneva, I invited them to the United Nations headquarters, where an Open Day took place. We also visited the famous Chillon castle on lake Léman and the Olympic city of Lausanne.
First impressions of Geneva
It's only been two weeks since I moved from Washington DC to Geneva and I am enjoying summer here. Life is been quite hectic as I started a new job, I'm adapting to the city and I'm looking for an apartment. Let me tell you about my first impressions of this Swiss city!
10 hours in Geneva
After leaving Washington DC for good yesterday, I landed in Geneva early this morning to just spend ten hours in the city. I still can´t believe my American adventure is now over! I think the view of the Swiss stunning landscapes, with high peaks and wide rivers, will stay in my memories forever though.
