Toledo is an ancient city set on a hill above the plains of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. It’s known for the medieval Arab, Jewish and Christian monuments within its historic city walls. It was also the former home of Mannerist painter El Greco. The Moorish Bisagra Gate and the Sol Gate, in Mudéjar style, open into the old quarter, where the Plaza de Zocodover is a lively meeting place.
We were in Toledo for lunch, as it is just an hour drive from Madrid. We had the traditional ‘cochinillo‘ (piglet) in a fantastic restaurant called Venta de Aires. After a copious meal, we headed to the city center to walk around a bit Plaza de Zocodover, the Cathedral and the Alcázar.
It is always nice to come back to Toledo. See you soon!
