I spent this weekend in rural Spain, around Salas de los Infantes in Burgos. Along with my Dad and my brother, we visited some family friends in their village. In these uncertain times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we really enjoyed unplugging and reconnecting with nature and the simple things in life. I might be biased but I'm always amazed by the number (and quality) of activities you can do when visiting Spain. Keep on reading to learn all there is to see around Salas de los Infantes (Burgos).

Today I want to tell you about my first escape into the nature after testing negative upon arriving to Spain. As you might remember from my previous post, returning from Bolivia in the middle of the COVID pandemic wasn't easy and I had missed my friends and being outdoors so much. This weekend I had the perfect opportunity to catch up with them all in the biggest mountain close to home: Peñas de Aya. Stay tuned if you want to learn all you can do here!

After visiting Córdoba and Priego de Córdoba with my in-laws and some family friends, we all came to Irún, my hometown in the Basque Country. We spent a few days here altogether, enjoying great food and sightseeing lovely places such as Getaria, Zumaia, San Sebastián, Lesaka or Hendaye. Curious to know all there is to see in this area?

It's almost Christmas and it was time to fly back home from Bolivia! Here's my one-week itinerary back in Spain before heading to my hometown today. Non-stop as you can see! Since moving for good to Tarija in July, I hadn't had the chance to travel outside of Bolivia. But with Christmas around the corner, it was time to spend some quality-time with our beloved ones back in Spain.

We drove from Sevilla and arrived to Zahara de los Atunes at sunset. This village (and nearby Barbate) are famous for their atún (tuna) de almadraba. During our stay in Tarifa, we also explored the gorgeous village of Vejer de la Frontera and several beaches such as Bolonia (and its famous dune), Valdevaqueros (known among windsurfers), Cabo de Trafalgar (site of the famous naval battle) and El Cañuelo (only reachable by foot).

We just came back from our holidays in Spain and had a blast. We wanted to take it easy, so we went to Andalucía, in the south of Spain.

Driving from Madrid, our first stop was a picnic in El Real de la Jara, by the river. We then arrived to our accommodation at Finca La Fronda in Alájar. We can't thank the Wordsworth family enough for treating us like kings during our stay!

Toledo is an ancient city set on a hill above the plains of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain. It’s known for the medieval Arab, Jewish and Christian monuments in its walled old city. It was also the former home of Mannerist painter El Greco. The Moorish Bisagra Gate and the Sol Gate, in Mudéjar style, open into the old quarter, where the Plaza de Zocodover is a lively meeting place.
