The White House is probably the most iconic building in Washington DC

Hello there! My name is Mariela and I just landed in Washington DC, the capital of the USA. And why DC, you may ask?  Well, moving here has been a dream of mine for a long time.

I’ve felt curious about the country for years after watching it in endless movies and wanted to live my own American dream.

It’s been a long trip coming all the way from my hometown in Spain, that’s for sure. But here I am after three flights starting in Fuenterrabía and with stops in Madrid, London and Washington DC

I’ll be spending the next year in DC working at the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy thanks to a Basque Government Internationalization grant

On the accommodation side, I’ll be staying in a shared apartment with friends of friends (small world!) in the Foggy Bottom area for the first month or so. It’s close to my new office, so it should work for now!

What I intend with this blog is to keep you entertained with my experiences and trips as a ‘newbie’ in the USA.

If you would like to know a bit more about my story, you can do so here. I’m pretty sure this is the beginning of many adventures, so welcome to Washington DC!

Feel free to leave me a comment, see you soon and hi again!
