Overlooking Prague's Old Town from Charles Bridge

It’s just been a week since I moved to Geneva (Switzerland) but I managed to squeeze in a weekend in Prague with my boyfriend. Follow me to discover the Czech capital!

What to see in Prague

We started our touristy weekend up in the monumental castle district of Hradcany. From there, you can easily walk to the Strahov monastery, the Archbishop Palace, the Loreto sanctuary, St Vitus Cathedral and the Old Royal Palace. Make sure to check out the Golden Lane, a picturesque street with colorful houses inside the grounds of the city’s castle.

A gorgeous view over the roofs of Prague

Going downhill we hit Prague’s Little Quarter (Mala Strana), full of cobbled streets and elegant palaces. After visiting St Nicholas church, we walked across the famous Charles Bridge (Karlův most), which connects the city with the Old Town (Stare Mesto).

It is worth taking your time when exploring the Old Town square (Staroměstské náměstí), especially with the nearby historic Astronomical Clock and the Powder Tower. We finished our visit at Wenceslas square.

Where to eat in the Czech capital

My boyfriend’s colleagues took us to a restaurant right by the famous Charles bridge in Prague (sorry I couldn’t find the name). We drank beers and had a yummy meat feast. See by yourself!

Time for lunch!

Where to stay in Prague

Our accommodation during our weekend stay in the Czech capital was at the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague (Freyova 945/33, 190 00,Praha 9-Vysočany). In my opinion, it was quite far away from the city center (over half an hour by public transportation) but we slept there because of a Conference my boyfriend was attending.
