Today I finally went to the National Arboretum with a couple of friends.

This place had been on my DC wish list for a long time but I had not managed to visit it up until now that I am about to move to Geneva in Switzerland.

We met at Union Station with our bikes and foodie supplies and biked along the Metropolitan Branch Trail. From there we took Franklin St NE and then Montana Ave NE until we finally reached the Arboretum. It was soooo warm, around 90F degrees!

After we somewhat recovered thanks to our homemade picnic, we parked our bikes and visited the Arboretum, namely the famous Capitol Columns and the Lee Garden with its Azalea Collection.

Following our walk we headed to Pitango in Eastern Market/Capitol Hill to get some ice cream. I had a very refreshing one with hazelnut and pineapple, yummy!
